A project promoted by SP Group and ElPozo Alimentación, with the participation of Andaltec, focused on the development of new sustainable and recyclable packaging for food products. This initiative, funded by the CDTI, aims to launch new vacuum and modified atmosphere packaging systems containing different active ingredients with preservative, antioxidant or antibacterial properties.
These food packs are not only made from mono-material for more economical recycling, but also contain recycled material to comply with the European Plastics Strategy 2030. They are also optimised to meet the mechanical requirements of food packaging on industrial equipment.
Technicians at the Plastics Technology Centre carry out tasks such as technical and regulatory requirements analysis, design, process testing and validation testing for the development of the polymer materials used to make these innovative containers.
