The Technological Centre for Plastics has provided technological support, design and 3D
printing validation for the initiative arising from a team of teachers at Fernando III high school
in Martos. The project is intended to produce plastic protective screen for healthcare workers
and it is being carried out among several companies from the plastics sector. In spite of the
apparent simplicity of the manufactured product, this wouldn’t have been possible without
the proper design, availability of raw materials, machinery capable of high-speed production,
assembly know-how and, besides, facing the coordination difficulties derived from the strict
lockdown in Spain. Some of the companies pulling together for this cause are Valeo , Proinsur,
Plastuc, Retuc, Plásticos Alcaudete, Acodis, Kit Online, Teknia, Inamarsa, among others.

The project leaders, within this effort towards the serial manufacture of 3,000 units daily, work
under the directions emanated from the Maimónides Biomedical Research Institute of
Córdoba in order to obtain a product meeting the required health standards. Thus, Andaltec
works side by side with this renowned research centre. Together, they are defining the next
stages into the project and studying the best designs and materials to manufacture protective
equipment for healthcare personnel, as well as tools directed at optimising patient treatments.
